DESCRIPTION:Description:\nThis session will explore mental health\, suicide prevention\, and suicide ideation through a health equity and health disparities lens\, with particular attention to Black\, Brown\, marginalized\, and underserved communities. The discussion will examine barriers to accessing culturally responsive mental health services\, the impact of stigma and systemic inequities\, and the importance of recognizing warning signs and risk factors associated with suicide ideation. Participants will gain practical knowledge about prevention\, early intervention\, culturally affirming support\, and resources that can help individuals and communities navigate mental health challenges. \nLearning Objectives:\nBy the end of this session\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize common warning signs\, risk factors\, and protective factors associated with suicide ideation and mental health concerns.\nIdentify health disparities and systemic\, cultural\, and socioeconomic barriers that can limit access to mental health services\, particularly within marginalized and underserved communities.\nDescribe culturally responsive and trauma-informed approaches to supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges or suicide ideation.\nIdentify prevention strategies\, community resources\, and pathways to appropriate mental health support and professional care.\n\n \nKezia Jackson\, Psy.D \nAbout the Speaker:\nDr. Kezia Jackson founded Healing Spaces to provide a safe and supportive environment for healing\, with a particular focus on Black and Brown individuals and members of other marginalized communities.
